The Festival Players’ first show of the new millennium brought an all all-time favourite to the Mumford Theatre stage in the shape of Singing in the Rain. The Combinations reviewer was sure that “Anyone who came to [the show] will have been much impressed…. An admirable production.” Almost every aspect of the staging came in for praise: “The staging was ingenious. As always, Roy Braybrooke’s sets were spot on….”; “…the orchestra was splendid….”; “Directors Ken Lancey and Theresa Goddard made good use of [the chorus] in a fair number of scenes to great effect. The choreography was very good.” The company had “…excelled themselves in the costume department.”
The cast were no exception: “The four main characters around which the story is set have to be strong – and they were… There were some fine cameo performances …. “.
