David Palmer
David Palmer is a renowned auctioneer, familiar to those who watch the likes of Flog It, Bargain Hunt and Cash In The Attic. As well as being known for his colourful waistcoats, David generously gives his time to charity events like this one, and promises to keep us all thoroughly entertained, while encouraging everyone to dig deep for the lots on offer.

Meet the band!

The specially-convened Festival Players Band features members old and new is already in rehearsal, putting together an eclectic setlist featuring songs from the ’60s to the present day, including music from the Beach Boys and the Beatles, through to The Killers and Taio Cruz, via Cher, Journey, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi.

Charity Dinner and Dance – our chosen charity

The Samaritans

The Samaritans (Cambridge Branch) provides vital anonymous support to any individual seeking ‘someone to talk to’ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Wholly supported by trained volunteers, the confidential service allows people to talk freely, in full confidence, about deep and difficult issues.

As a charity, The Samaritans is entirely dependent on donations to keep it going, and to ensure that there is always a friendly voice available for anyone facing a challenging time in their lives.

John 18, Sams Director, says: ‘I am delighted to have the support of the Festival Players, which will help sustain the 30,000 or so callers who access the Branch each year, whether by phone, email, face to face or in other settings.’

Profits from the dinner – generated through the price of your ticket and winning bids at the charity auction – will be split between The Samaritans and the Festival Players.

To support this fundraising event, please share details among friends, family and colleagues (you can request reserved seating together at the time of booking).

Places are £47.50 each, to include drinks on the reception lawn beforehand, plus a three-course meal, charity auction and dancing to the Festival Players Band!

The event takes place at the Cambridge Union Building (just behind the ADC Theatre) on Saturday 16 July.

Charity Dinner & Dance in aid of The Samaritans

The Festival Players Charity Dinner and Dance takes place on Saturday 16 July at the Cambridge Union Society (behind the Round Church, near the ADC Theatre).

It will be a fantastic evening’s entertainment, with profits shared with The Samaritans.

The evening will begin with a drinks reception on the lawn outside the Union, followed by a three-course meal in the unique surroundings of the historic Debating Chamber.

While you enjoy your dessert, there will be an opportunity to bid in an auction of promises, led by TV’s David Palmer.

After dinner, we move to the Blue Room to dance the night away to the Festival Players Band, who will be playing tunes from the 60s to the present day.
